Solar Panels create energy in w/m^2. They do not have 100% efficiency, though. In this lab you will determine the efficiency of the solar panels.

To find efficiency, take the solar energy created divided by the predicted solar energy.

    Lab:

Go to the solar panel array and measure the area of the solar panels

Look up the solar radiation levels by going onto wunderground.com and search KHIKAMUE2.

Find the amount of energy meant to be created in each panel (w/m^2, and multiply it by the number of panels in the array (512)

Compare this number to the actual amount of energy used (go to elab4.hpa.edu and click on HPA energy. Find PPA solar.)

    What is the efficiency?

Notice how much energy is lost !!!
