    Sensors

The first few weeks we got to play around with a few tools provided by Dr.Bill to try and getting our ideas for our independent project flowing. I got to play with the different sensors and controls in the building. I got to see the how much energy and water the different dorms use and saw that my dorm is the one that has the least water usage overall. I also got to see how much solar power the ELab uses.

    IPNet Monitor Radio Program

We later got to play around with the IPNet Radio Program which is a program that allows you to listen to the radio from all over the world. Which was really cool to hear radio from Mexico and China.

    Raspberry Shake

Raspberry shake are seismic sensors that sense earthquakes around the world. This was really cool to see and also to be able to play around with the ones in school and clap and stomp near them and observe how it would spike.

    Netatmo

The netatmos were one of the biggest things that we did during this semester. Netatmos are basically quality of life sensors that sense the noise level, CO2 level, temperature, humidity and other factors that may affect the quality inside a room. This helps us have classrooms with ideal learning conditions. We got to test out all of the sensors to make sure they all work and then label a few and put them in different classrooms that we chose to track the air quality in the rooms. We have ever since been tracking them.

    Classes to other teams

this day was full dedicated to teaching other teams about what we had been working on and them teach us what they have been working on. We first taught them evert¡thing about the IPNet Monitor, the Raspberry shake and lastly about the netatmos. The first team taught us about how they repair Macs and took us through the whole process and even let us help repair one. The second team took us through all the programming things that they have learned and showed us how we can shut down a computer by programming it on another computer. They also taught us how to make an invisible foe among many other things.

    Zoom with Randy Campbell

One day we had the privilege to steal some time from Rnady Campbell's schedule and got to zoom with him and ask him questions about his work, Ava, one of my teammates, is working with him on her capstone project by tracking the movement of exoplanets which is also very cool.

    Electromagnetic Radiation + Gamma-Rays Research

Later in the semester I decided to stray from the team and start my independent research. I decided to do electromagnetic radiation. I started wanting to study radiation in our devices like phone, and wanted to create a smartwatch with reduced radiation harm to the body. As I continued my research I learned more and more about radiation in space and gamma-rays including black holes. I became more and more interested and took my research in that direction. At the beginning I also got to use a oscilloscope that helps measure radiation in different devices and used it to measure the radiation. All of my research is here:

By far my favorite thing that I have done and the most excited to continue, especially with black holes.

    Satellites

I looked a little bit more into Starlink and what they do. I found this picture that gives us another prospective into what the satellites look like from Earth:

I still have a lot of research to do about this and definitely want to look more into it. I also want to look into space weather and black holes. I only briefly started to learn about satellites and my research is in my notes linked above.

    Crash Physics Course

One day Dr.Bill gave us a crash course on AP Physics since both of my teammates were in it and needed help. I got to learn about some things that I hadn't learned about and others that I had in the past. It was a great refresher.
