I missed last class because I was turtle tagging in Kapoho. (It was very very fun). Ok so from what I read from other people, they wrote an energy audit update to their clients. They also had to answer some questions from Dr. Bill. I answered those questions today during class so here they are.

The parrot can be made to communicate wirelessly, but only to a computer: explain: the parrot can communicate through ad hoc with the computer but there is no program for the computer to control the parrot and the computer has to be close to the drone. So now we have to make the ad hoc go over a network so that it can be controlled from anywhere.

The dd-wrt software can be used to "nuke" a linksys WRT54G access point and transform it into something wonderful-explain: I do not understand this at all but I hope that Ian will explain this to me so that I understand.

If the elab were to become an emergency FEMA site, how could your solution be exported for use to fight range fires, or other natural disaster here: We could communicate with services over our own network because it is exclusive and it is secure.

You have line of sight from the elab to over half of the island. Soon you will have stations at the Mauna Lani and Waikii. Explain how this will change your coverage, including a map: this would allow us to connect to it from the whole island because it could go anywhere on the island.

If you are successful in hacking the parrot, how could this be used, and where will you publish your solutions: it could be used to control it from anywhere in the world through vpn into the elab network. we would publish it on the parrot website and maybe we might be able to make some profit from it.

Who will be interested in this and why: people that want to control the drone from anywhere in the world could follow our instructions and find out how to do it.

That's what I did most of class but near the end I went with Dr. Bill and he showed us a new map that me made of the networks. He set up a new antenna at the mauna lani but it already died (I think). I would put a picture of the map up but I can't get on the site. Sorry. Ok so next class we might be working on the drone.
