Today I started reading a Cornell research journal about how loud ambient noise affects retention and speech interpretation in elementary school children. Most of these studies are conducted using prepubescent children, which makes sense because this is when they are developing very significant learning skills. Something that interests me is the difference in how children and adolescents respond to noisy environments. I suspect it affects older children less, due to the fact that younger children are high energy and tend to be more sporadic. I wonder if children who begin learning in a noisy environment are more or less likely to respond to a noisy environment as adolescents. The age factor is very interesting.
