At the beginning of this school year with my main focus being on haptic transducers, most of my collaboration relied on speaking to people like Dr. Bill, Mr. Halstead, Oliver Grayson. Though I spent most of my time searching for copious answers through Google, I would consult either of these individuals when in need of a better understanding. During the second semester as I moved into my hydroponics project, my pool for collaborators expanded to Sameer, Sneha, Tommy and Dr. Bill's step-son, Andrew. In terms of my sensory substitution project, my biggest hope was to allow deaf/hard of hearing individuals to be able to feel a similar sensation when listening to music. For any student in years to come that has a similar passion in music as well as a developed background in music and computer sciences, I would urge them to expand upon this project.

Over this entire year, I can simply say that my narrow-minded point of view has been forcefully opened by the passion and knowledge found within HPA's Energy lab. From day to day conversations about Yoyodyne to spending periods reading about Fast Fourier Transformers, I have gotten the chance to learn to perform more practically, analytically and creatively from both projects I'd taken on. My biggest challenge this entire year was definitely communication. As passionate about my project as I was walking into the E-lab on the first day, I didn't have half the knowledge about computer sciences and programming compared to other students within the same room. As much as I spent time reading copious online articles to help grow my understanding, I could've spent more time speaking to guys like Oliver Grayson, whom I could've worked alongside. Overall, I am beyond grateful for this past year and find it a pity that it's already finished.

Is a post needed for today? 5/19/17

With my presentation finished and Friday being a reading day for all classes, I spent my day digging away at the clutter of my room.

Weekly Summary 5/13/17

Looking back at this past week, I was glad to see the progress that was made on our hydroponics project. I'm still a little disappointed Sameer, didn't tell me he and some others were going to eat our single prosperous strawberry but I'll get over it. Otherwise, I'm preparing to present next week Wednesday and look forward to presenting.

Daily Summary 5/12/17

During Friday's period, we readjusted the schedule for upcoming presentations as well as Dr. Bill picked up extra parts we requested on Wednesday for the air pump. Unfortunately while setting up, I foolishly placed the air pump into the horizontal tray which cause for an electrical surge to occur (sorry again Dr. Bill).

Daily Summary 5/10/17

During Wednesday's period, thanks to Oliver's automated EC & pH meters, there was no reading that seemed to stray from the norm. Andrew also came to our period again and donated his air pump for our horizontal tray.

There will always be obstacles 4/23/17

I wasn't shocked while coming up to B period earlier to find that most of the plants in our vertical tray withered. I wasn't able to come on Saturday to check on the plants but Sneha came in my place and saw that everything was in check. Somewhere between the time she visited on Saturday until B period this morning, the tube led through the vertical column disconnected from its pump. During today's period I reconnected the tube to its pump using the red electrical tape as shown, as a temporary solution. Tommy and Sameer added a bit more of the fertilizing mixture as well. Before I left, I turned on both pumps. On the plus side, or horizontal tray was perfectly intact and Oliver's EC and pH meters worked.

Weekly Summary 4/22/17

This past week seemed to have focused more on hydroponics more than my haptic transducer project. My main plan for the upcoming week is to continue working on my haptics project as well as begin to prepare for my final presentation.

Hydroponics update pt. 2 4/21/17

During Friday's period, as we routinely checked the EC and pH, Andrew was able to work with us and check on any maintenance needs for the vertical tray. We swapped out a few pants that were doing well in the horizontal tray and placed them into the vertical tray.

Uncoordinated 4/17/17

During Monday's period, my time was not used effectively mostly because of the visiting students. Sadly I wasn't able to make more progress on 3 band equalizer.
