This week I decided on using the Emotiv Insight headset. It is much easier to set up than the Emotiv Epoch. Deciding on the headset was a major milestone for me that I was able to check off. Once I decided on the headset I began looking into the Emotiv software. There is currently an application on one of the elab computers. I started exploring it, and it seems to have what I am looking for because it lists the percent of focus, stress, etc. during a particular session. on Thursday an alumni, Elliot Kastner, a past alumni and engineer behind Mobil Virtual Player came to speak with us. what I gathered from his presentation was that projects often come across unexpected obstacles and take turns in direction. this has certainly been the case for me because i have to modify my project as I come across new information. For example I decided on choosing an EEG set that has software that can interpret the data for me when I found out how easily raw data can be misinterpreted. in the next coming week I plan on doing the following things.:
- meet with Johnny about software and using Insight.
- begin doing trial tests on myself to make sure the equipment is working
- learn if there is a feature that stores the data within the Emotiv Insight software.
