This week I continued research, especially regarding CO2:

Negative impact of high CO2 includes a decrease in student alertness and concentration. This often manifests in students feeling drowsy and taking longer to process information.

Metrics: Average CO2 levels outside: 400 parts per million (ppm). Accepted standard for classrooms: 1000ppm.

Solution: Increase ventilation so more fresh, outside air comes in whilst venting CO2 rich air out.

Challenges: Air from outside can require cooling/heating in order to be comfortable.

    Temperature:

    – At 61 degrees Fahrenheit, students averaged a score of 76%

    – At 72 degrees Fahrenheit, students averaged a score of 90%

    – At 81 degrees Fahrenheit, students averaged a score of 72%
