Week of 5/06

This week, I was only in class two times because I had a doctor's appointment. I spent the majority of the time that I had in class on working on my student corner and on fixing the Radio Antenna for wifi. I also studied for my APs. I have AP Physics C: Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism as well as the AP Calculus Exam.

Week of 4/27

In class this week I focused my efforts on my end of year plans and organizing myself to continue working on my projects. I think its beyond important that I pass on all of my projects to underclassmen that are aware of the possibilities of human machine interaction and that they know that it will be the future of our world. My bionic prosthetic hand, the 4k 1060i computer I built, and everything in between is all part of my legacy that I want someone to take over.

Update 05/02/2018

Today I did some organizing with Chris and Daniel. We moved some stuff around in the basement of the Energy Lab. We put the wind turbine by the big tank on the Kamuela side of the building. We also moved the golf cart batteries. Lastly we filled up the tires with air. Once they were pumped up, We were able to move it off the pavement and away from foot traffic.

Update 04/30/2018

Today I edited footage. I learned a new technique that involved using Adobe After Effects. I am extremely excited to use moving key frames to do this. Class went by pretty quick. Only 30 min of work.

Week of 4/22

This week, I focused on my editing. I also tried getting one of the monitors that was hooked up to the 1060iA to run 4k. After hours of research and changing the settings on the computers, Dr. Bill, Oliver, and I realized that the monitor can only run a max of 1920x1080. Dr. Bill said he would order a new screen by dell. I hope that this new one will work. If it arrives next week, Oliver and I can set it up.

Update 04/26/2018

In class today Chris, Sameer, Daniel, and I moved a radio antenna out of the way. It was stuck by the solar panels and we removed it, so the grass wouldn't grow over it!

Update 04/23/2018

Although all the computers are now up and running, I am working on getting one of the monitors to display 4k resolution. We have installed the Display Port cable and switched out the HDMI one. It still does not work but Oliver and I are collaborating to fix it all up!

Week of 4/15

This week I prepared for my big presentation to the board. We were told to add as much information about our Energy Lab work in about a 4 minute presentation. I reflected on the projects I have been conducting as well as how I will leave a legacy. Here are some images from yesterday afternoon:

Update 04/17/2018

In class today I prepared my presentation for the board of trustees. I am going to share the work I have done at the Energy Lab. I will mainly focus on my Bionic Prosthetic Hand but I will also add in the fact that I have accumulated various high level skills due to my work in diverse fields of technology.

Update 04/16/2018

Today I worked on helping Ethan Goore with the assets and having his files on the Elab server. Unfortunately I was unable to get much work done because class went by too fast.

Out of class, I met with Liz Watson, Aaron Schorn, and Ari Bernstein, on planning to get a ELAB and campus video.

Week of 4/08

Although I do put a lot of effort into my video editing and drone videography, I have to say that a new passion of mine is to build computers. I assembled the 1060iB with Oliver and it has been a good journey. The last thing we did was put the thermal cooling in and that was so rewarding. We put the paste on a special plate that we stuck the fan to and it was ready for action. I think that for these last few weeks, I want to help Dr. Bill repair computers. That would be awesome.

Update 04/13/2018

Once again I worked on my Premiere editing skills. I have been working on the 1060iA desktop computer but I have just finished up assembling the 1060iB with Oliver. This second super computer has the entire suite and I am so excited to use it as much as possible before I depart.

Update 04/11/2018

In class today I presented my project to first graders. It was an eye opening experience to present to a different audience. I treasured how simple it was to please them and how nice it was to be able to teach them how the human body interacts with technology. I also worked on Premiere Pro.

Update 04/09/2018

Class was cut a bit short for me. I was helping out with the nurses. The biggest take away is that I have to present my project to the board on Friday April 20th. The plan is to talk about the future of the Bionic Prosthetic Hand project and the legacy I plan to leave at HPA.

Week of 4/01

This week was one of the more productive weeks that I have had in a while. Not only did I do relevant work but the work had progress. In class I focused most of my energy on the two new PCs that the ELAB gave us a grant to build and use. Oliver and I are building a 4k compatible computer that runs with a GTX 1060 graphics card. The high level rendering, editing, and regular application use will be a great fit for this computer. I am also currently in the process of learning how to use the other 4k compatible computer that Dr. Bill got for us. I use it daily for editing but it will also be used for Unity rendering, and as a monitor for playing back 4k drone videos.

Update 04/06/2018

Today I worked on helping Dr. Bill with Zoe's computer and cleaning up the main hard drive. The problem with such amazing computers and lots of people working on them is the data management. Most of the work done on these beasts of computers leave huge files and therefore the management is essential. I plan to keep the new desktop computer clean and organized.
