I worked on the wheel a bit more but we spent most of the time talking so didn't have much time to do anything else.

I ended up not being able to get the metal piece done over break but will hopefully have that done soon. I am currently working on a way to make a better and faster wheel piece for the final machine that will take less time to print and be more efficient. I hope to get the metal piece ready soon. 

I have all the gears finished finally and right sizes as well. I decided to work on the support of the shell part of the machine but will have to find a better way because the current one isn't finished. Otherwise I started working on the semester review page. 

I modified the gears a bit and printed a final one that looks like the ones i uploaded prior but is right size and bigger gear teeth. I also started working on a way to make the project sturdier by adding support under the barrel and extruder screw, which was surpisingly difficult for such a simple idea. I added the photo below which it is not done yet as you can see there are still parts sticking out of the X supports which I will cut with the blue box below. I will hopefully have the metal piece before winter break.

I just printed more today and fixed some things wrong with the last few that I had. I have to have very precise sizes for each print so I need to adjust some things according to the printer as well. I plan to print the custom filament wheel that I will use in my project, or at least part of it, next class.

Today I set up the other dryer for filament and printed a few pieces. They are working fine but I will want to make the screw a bit thicker as to not have it break off easily (photo below) but otherwise I am going to make the metal piece at Keck soon.

Today I worked on the scale model after redoing the extruder screw and barrel design. I printed out the first piece of the actual project, a gear for turning the filament wheel while it gets extruded. Here is a photo of the wheel. 

I had to redo the design of the extruder screw and barrel because it was too big for my design. I found another blueprint and worked on designing that and am mostly done with the barrel part of it but am confused about the nozzle dimensions. I otherwise designed a the gears and wheel of the final project with correct dimensions prior to this over my free time.

Today I labeled the printers including their IP so people can use them on their own. I also started to design the wheel and here is a photo of the extruder screw and barrel I finished recently and will have made at Keck. 

We had another printer donated to us and i got that set up to the internet and ethernet so it will be able to print. Like the other one, all you need is the IP adress and a app called orca slicer on your computer to get a design to the printer. Otherwise, I finally finished the extruder screw and barrel design and now have to get them printed at keck because they are made of metal.
