This week I started to test if driving in different ways would have any effect on the gas mileage. In my initial research, I found that breaking more would result in a better gas mileage compared to when driving "smooth". I believe that given a short driving period on a hill, the data may be skewed. This weekend I will record data on a trip from Waimea to Kona. This should result in more credible data.

In today's discussion, I had some good ideas about what my project will look like down the road. I want to inform drivers of hybrid cars on techniques that could help make their cars more fuel efficient in a personalized way.
For the problem statement in general, I want to help the potentially millions of people who drive hybrid cars to drive them how they should be driven to maximize efficiency (driving a Prius like a Humvee). It can help people in the local community as well as a global community.

In our problem statement proposal discussion, there were a lot of ideas. I really liked the ones about personal information security and I could help individuals or companies (doctors offices). Also about how I can help older people learn to avoid obvious scams.

Still looking into cybersecurity, maybe more into hacking.
Want to learn more about proxies and how to use them/ set up. (or VPNs, maybe Nord VPN breach as a starting point of large scale hacks)

Download file "example.PNG"

notes on presentation:

-know my assumptions and how to test them

-find background on topics

-can be open up to two separate ideas and combine it, or focus on one

-find multiple data points (experts/ students that I can talk to)

Ideas:
Energy storage at HPA. At HPA energy needs are for the most part met by renewable energy on campus. However, energy is needed throughout the day (at night when solar panels are not viable) because of the boarding program for example.

Cybersecurity and education for why it is important. Nationwide, large scale hacks cause massive amounts of losses in data which is expensive and creates a whole new rabbit hole for malicious activity (from stolen data). For example the pipeline hack created a lot of uncertainty for millions in America who had extremely limited access to oil and gas. Even on a smaller scale, gmail breaches for example are a huge problem that affects millions each year.
